Timing Belt on Ford Focus?

I own a 2006 Ford Focus (hatchback). To anyone who owns a similar model, how much am I looking into paying when changing the timing belt, and shocks? I've heard some ridiculous pricing considering its a Ford.I'm also a girl so I am too familiar with the %26quot;we have to charge more because that particular part comes from the bowels of gorillas in the Congo%26quot; So, what am I looking at here? Thanks for your helpTiming Belt on Ford Focus?Timing Belt - About $250-300

Shocks - About $100-$125 each (x 2 or x4, depending on which are bad)

Shops in my area base on $70/hr labor + materials.

B-O-B gave you the best answer for your problem.
Timing Belt on Ford Focus?
yep B O B did good and if the timing belt is close to the change time frame as the dealer or ur book said then get it change you wont like what could happen if it breaks then the engine is running it will be cheaper to fix it now then after it breaks you could end up paying a lot more money.
pretty sure the timing belt belt is not going to cost that much. the shocks might be. but the belt probably not.

unless if that was with labor included.
the total price of the repair bill will depend on many things because if the car's timing belt is broken there is the possibility that the valaes have bent if that is the case you will also need a machine shop that can straighten them back out if none are available in your area then you will need new ones

in my case a mouse had chewed the belt and the insurance paid for the entire bill minus my deductible and there was a machine shop nearby who repaired my valves

my deductible and insurance paid a total of

$1,457.73

hope you have better luck than me
