Timing Belt, 2000 Chevy Impala LS?

Okay, I just wanted to know, how would I go about changing the timing belt on a 2000 Chevy Impala LS. How hard is it? What would I need to do? If not, how much does it average out to be to just take it to a shop and have it taken care of there?Timing Belt, 2000 Chevy Impala LS?No need to change it because it is a timing chain, which rarely if ever fails. They wear out as the engine does.

No, ALL V6 engines in ALL Impalas are OHV engines have chain-driven camshafts. As Alfonso and Allen said, they rarely fail, but when they do, expect severe damage to valves and push rods (and possibly the cylinder heads). What is the motor doing to make you want to do this?

NO it is a belt !! what makes you think you need one? they usually last as long as the engine.it isn't a backyard mechanic type of job it involves tearing the fan belt side of the engine apart and can get very tricky. it'll cost about 600 - 900 dollars to replace mostly labor charges.
I don't believe that there is a timing belt on an Impala.

All motors from then had timing chains on them.
