03 Honda Civic Si Timing Belt Squeaking?

There is a loud squeaking sound coming from my timing belt area on my 2003 Honda Civic Si. Its annoying and dont know if its time to change belt? Car has 67xxx miles on it. How much would a belt and water pump cost to replace? Also. My engine rocks back and forth a little. What is causing this? Thanks03 Honda Civic Si Timing Belt Squeaking?I doubt its your timing belt. Your timing belt has notches that can't slip, so you shouldn't hear a squeak. Maybe you're hearing the serpentine belt (the one you can see without taking the cover off). You can try belt dressing (buy it at your local auto parts store) and see if it helps. If its a loud squeal (not a squeak), you may have bad bearings in one of the accessories (alt, power steering pump, etc) or the tensioner/idler pulley. I'm not sure if your 2003 has a timing belt or chain, but my best guess is a timing belt. Check your owner's manual under the maintenance section (black edge of page in your manual) to see if you have any maintenance requirement for the timing belt.

If you need to change the timing belt, also change the water pump. The cost of the parts aren't too high, but the labor cost is. You don't want to go back in just to change a water pump.

Engine rocking is probably the engine mounts. If the engine mounts are damaged (broken or cracked) you need to change them. You will be able to rock the engine - you have liquid filled engine mounts - this is how your car reduces engine vibration.

the timing belt will not squeak cause it has teeth on it. the only belts that will squeak are the AC/Alternator and Power steering belts! Good luck
